New Members’ Guide

We are thrilled to have you as a member of our club and we’re looking forward to getting to know you. There are quite a few things to learn about Toastmasters and ILTM and this page will guide you in that journey. Don’t be overwhelmed though, the only two things you need to get started are the first two items in the guide below: to pick a Pathway on toastmasters.org, and to familiarize yourself with EasySpeak.

[Pathways] Where you follow Toastmasters’ curriculum

  • Now that you are a paying member (thank you!) you are registered on toastmasters.org. The first step to start with the Toastmasters curriculum is to choose a Pathway. You can watch this video about how to interact with the online tutorial (aka BaseCamp).

[EasySpeak] Where we organize our meetings

  • We use EasySpeak (tmclub.eu) to organize each meeting and it is very important that you become familiar with this website.
  • We encourage you to sign-up for a meeting roles. You can do that from the meeting page. There are only two roles that you cannot auto-assign:
    • Toastmasters of the Day: you need to contact our President or VPE if you are intersted
    • Speaker: follow the intructions from the meeting roles guidelines page on how to request a speech.
  • As the website is not very intuitive here are some shortcuts:

Who is Who at ILTM

Officers

  • We have 7 officers in our club, you can find the list here.

Members

  • You can find our member list here.  As of June 2023 we count about 15 members.

Mentoring

  • Our Mentoring support will get in touch with you to assign you a mentor.

WhatsApp groups

  • Normally you were already added to our “ILTM – member area” WhatsApp group. Please be mindful of what you post there as it reaches a wide audience.
  • If you feel more chatty join our ChitChat

Meeting types and frequency

The meeting calendar is on EasySpeak.

  • Every 2nd week we have a “regular meeting” which consists of 2 speeches and table topics
  • The other weeks we either have “speech only meetings” which consist of ~4 speeches and less official roles (i.e. we might not have a Grammarian or an Ah Counter on those meetings) or other special events (workshops, contests, elections)
  • Once a year we have a club contest (which then continues to Area Level contest, District level, division level and worldwide TM contest)
  • Once a year we have an election day (around May).

If you don’t have a Mentor just yet, but you have questions our President, our VPE and other committee members are there to help you out.

As a new member you have a fresh eye: do share with us any feedback that would make joining ILTM easier for future members.
